Life in Colonial America is best studied through the buildings that were built, the trades that were performed, and the major events that occurred. Studying those aspects of life is necessary to understand an important time in history that has made the United States what it is today.


You have 4 tasks to complete during this unit. You will work on your own, in small groups, and in pairs to research a variety of information about Colonial life in Williamsburg.

Your Assignments


Task 1: Buildings: Working on your own, choose a building in Williamsburg to research and present to your classmates. No two students may pick the same building.

Task 2: Trades: Working on your own, research a trade in which you might have been engaged during Colonial times, and present your findings to your classmates. No two students may pick the same trade.

Task 3: People: Working in small groups, research the prominent people of Williamsburg. Each group must have either 3 or 4 students.

Task 4: Timeline: Working in pairs, create a timeline highlighting the major events in the history of Williamsburg. Once again, you will present your findings to your classmates.
